What is tree ambulance?

A concept born entirely within RKDF University, Ranchi the Tree Ambulance aims to diagnose diseased trees, provide them with essential treatment, and contribute significantly to the preservation of green spaces.

A Tree Ambulance is an innovative initiative designed to provide on-site care and treatment to diseased or damaged trees. It functions as a mobile unit equipped with tools, equipment, and resources necessary for diagnosing tree-related problems, administering treatments, and promoting tree health.

Tree ambulances are vital for urban areas where trees face challenges like pollution, improper planting conditions, or mechanical injuries. This initiative supports environmental conservation by maintaining green cover and ensuring sustainable urban forestry practices.

Tree health and conservation

Tree Ambulance

The Tree Ambulance initiative by RKDF University, Ranchi integrates fieldwork and lab experiments to ensure tree health and conservation. It begins with diagnosing trees through inspections and sample collection for laboratory analysis to identify diseases, pests, nutrient deficiencies, or contamination. Based on findings, targeted treatments like organic or chemical solutions, bio-fertilizers, and growth boosters are applied. Pruning, structural support, and soil management, including aeration and compost application, are conducted. Awareness programs educate communities on tree care, and regular monitoring ensures recovery. By combining scientific analysis, field interventions, and community participation, the initiative fosters sustainable environmental conservation, especially in areas impacted by urbanization and mining.

How we do it

We ensure tree health and conservation through a systematic approach. First, we inspect and diagnose trees for diseases, pest infestations, or environmental stress using expert analysis and tools. Based on the diagnosis, we provide targeted treatments, including organic or chemical applications, pruning of dead branches, soil improvement with fertilizers, and structural support when required. Additionally, we conduct awareness drives to educate communities about tree care and revisit treated trees for monitoring and follow-up care. This holistic approach combines modern techniques, expert care, and community participation to promote tree conservation.

About Us

How it started!

The Tree Ambulance initiative fulfills the cherished dream of Dr. Amit Kumar Pandey, Registrar RKDF University, Ranchi whose vision and dedication inspired its creation. Officially inaugurated on 22nd August, 2022, by Mr. Siddharth Kapoor, Managing Director of the RKDF Group, this project represents a unique and innovative approach to environmental conservation.

The initiative was made possible through the support of Central Coalfields Ltd. (CCL) Ranchi, facilitated by Former General Manager, CSR Mr. L. Balakrishna and Mr. S.S. Lal, General Manager, CSR Department. It also owes its success to the invaluable efforts of our Vice-Chancellor, Dr. S. Chatterjee, who played a pivotal role in securing this opportunity.
